Masterclass with Prof. Ilja Scheps on August 19 and August 21, 2025, at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein

The Russian pianist Ilja Scheps studied at the renowned Tchaikovsky Conservatory in Moscow, where he later became a faculty member.
Beginning in 1982, he performed for ten years as a soloist with the Moscow Philharmonic, appearing both as a soloist and in collaboration with many prominent singers and instrumentalists. His extensive concert career has taken him to the USA, Australia, China, Israel, Italy, Malta, New Zealand, Spain, Turkey, Hungary, and beyond. Since 1992, Ilja Scheps has resided in Germany. He has taught at music conservatories in Rostock, Dortmund, and the Darmstadt Academy of Music. Since 2003, he has been a professor at the Cologne/Aachen University of Music, conducting numerous international masterclasses for pianists. He co-founded and served as the long-term artistic director of the Paderewski Piano Academy in Bydgoszcz, Poland. Additionally, he has been appointed as a guest professor at several universities in China. Students of Prof. Scheps have won numerous awards at piano competitions and secured exclusive contracts with record labels such as Sony Classical and Universal Records. Prof. Scheps is a sought-after jury member for prestigious international piano competitions, including: “Top of the World” and “Grieg” Piano Competition in Norway, Shenzhen Piano Concerto Competition and China International Piano Competition in Xiamen. Chopin Piano Competition in Darmstadt, Germany, Piano competitions in Madrid and Campillos, Spain, Concours International de Piano “Orchestra’Sion” in Istanbul, Turkey International Piano Competition MozArte in Aachen, Germany. His solo recitals, as well as performances with orchestras, celebrated singers, and instrumentalists, are enthusiastically received by audiences worldwide.  Since November 2022, Prof. Scheps has been teaching piano and chamber music at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein in Düsseldorf.

Masterclass with Prof. Mikhail Mordvinov on August 19 and August 21, 2025, at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein

Mikhail Mordvinov began his piano education at the age of seven at the Moscow Gnessin School of Music under the tutelage of Tatjana Zelikman. After graduating in 1994, he continued his studies at the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music with Prof. Vladimir Tropp, followed by postgraduate studies at the University of Music and Drama Hannover with Prof. Bernd Goetzke. From 2004 to 2010, he taught at the Russian Gnessin Academy of Music.Since receiving the Scriabin Scholarship from the Moscow Scriabin Museum in 1994, he has been a regular participant in the Scriabin Music Festival.

Awards and Scholarships: 1997/98: Neuhaus Scholarship from the New Charitable Fund of Scholarships by M. Rostropovich. Multiple Russian Presidential Scholarships. 2000/01: Scholarship from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD). 2004–2006: Supported by the Keyboard Charitable Trust in London. Competition Achievements: 1st Prize at the 12th International Robert Schumann Competition in Zwickau (1996). 1st Prize and Special Prize at the 6th International Schubert Competition in Dortmund (1997). 1st Prize and Special Prize at the 12th International Competition in Andorra (2006). Mikhail Mordvinov has performed extensively in Europe, Russia, the USA, Japan, and Korea as both a soloist and chamber musician. He has participated in numerous festivals, radio recordings, and CD productions. Since the winter semester of 2016/17, he has served as a piano instructor at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein in Berlin.

Masterclass with Prof. Gabriele Leporatti on August 19 and August 21, 2025, at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein

Praised by critics for his passionate playing, rich in aesthetic and emotional depth, Gabriele Leporatti was born in Italy and now resides in Germany. At the age of just 19, he graduated summa cum laude from the Luigi Cherubini Conservatory in Florence. He continued his studies with world-renowned pianists such as Fabio Bidini, Maria Tipo, Jerome Rose, and Joaquin Achúcarro.

He is a recipient of the Special Prize at the Bremen Piano Competition (2003) and the Dorothy McKenzie Award in New York. Leporatti has performed extensively as a solo recitalist and chamber musician alongside partners such as Eva Mei, Fabio Bidini, and soloists from the Amsterdam Concertgebouw and the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra.

His wide-ranging concert tours have taken him across Europe, South Africa, China, Turkey, and the USA, performing in prestigious venues such as the Wigmore Hall in London, the Small Broadcasting Hall of the NDR in Hannover, and the He Luting Hall in Shanghai. In 2009, he made his New York debut with a solo recital at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival at the Mannes College of Music. Among his recordings is the solo CD “The Young Brahms.” A highly regarded pedagogue, Leporatti has been teaching annually since 2011 at the International Keyboard Institute and Festival at the Mannes College of Music in New York. Since 2012, he has served as a piano instructor and head of the piano department at the International Music Academy Anton Rubinstein in Düsseldorf.
